Greg had business in the Baltimore-Washington area, so we all hopped in the minivan and made a trip out of it!
May 20 -- We got started early, at 5:20 a.m.! The
boys were great travellers, and we made it to Mom Mom and Pop Pop's house
by 2:30 p.m.! Paid $2.57 for gas in Greenville, $2.69 in Stevens City, VA.

May 21 -- Since this was our first trip back to DC, and
of course our first visit since Matthew was born, Mom Mom threw a party
so that family and friends could come by to see us all. There were
way too many people we wanted to see, so this was a great way to see everyone
at once. It was a great party, and we are so greatful to all the
people who came!
May 22 -- Monday we did the "tourist-thing" and went to
the new Air & Space Museum out by Dulles Airport in Virginia.
It is a favorite of all of ours. Amazingly, we ran in to a friend
from Greenville there! Small world! Paid $2.98 for gas in Tysons Corner, VA.

May 23 & 24 -- While Greg went off to meet his boss
for business, we hung out with Mom Mom, did some shopping, played, and
just did fun stuff. Saw gas regularly between $3.04 and $3.15 in Gaithersburg, MD. Did not buy!
May 25 -- Today was our visit back down to Alexandria.
We got to meet our former neighbor Pam, who brought us up to date on everything
we've missed. Then we were lucky enough to go to one of Miss Angie's Music
Together classes! We LOVED Music Together when we lived in Alexandria...
but mostly we loved Miss Angie! Greg met us afterwards, when he was
finished working with his boss, and we had a nice lunch at our favorite
crab-cake place in Alexandria, The Wharf. Gas was over $3.00 a gallon in Alexandria.
May 26 -- Time to go home! We left bright and early
at 7:30 am, and made a quick stop to visit Mommy's friend Angela at work
in Frederick. Then on the road! Until we hit our first backup.
A standstill. So we crossed the Potomac River a different way, and
kept on going. All was going well until we hit our first major storm
on I-77 in North Carolina. Dozens of cars were pulled over on the
side of the road, and there was a lot of debris as we drove on. It
poured rain, and we had marble-sized hail. About 25 miles north of
Charlotte, we hit another standstill, so off we went to more backroads.
And two more major storms! This time with some hail as big as walnuts!
We've never seen anything like it! FINALLY we made it HOME at 7:30
p.m. Only 3 hours behind schedule! As much as we loved seeing
everyone during our visit, there's no place like HOME! Saw gas for $2.99 in Frederick, MD. Paid $2.69 for gas in Stevens City, VA. Paid $2.47 for gas in Greenville! YEAH!
