It was a beautiful day on Saturday, so we drove up to the National Zoo in Washington.  I had a lot of great memories of this zoo from growing up, and Greg had visted too.  But the National Zoo is just not what it used to be.  Probably 1/3 of the outdoor exhibits were completely closed, and those which did have animals had very few.  We were shocked at how FEW animals there were.  News reports have discussed serious problems at the Zoo, and this was evident during our visit.  We really hope that those in charge make whatever changes are necessary to bring the Zoo back to what we remember.
